Details

Transgenic mice called alpha MUPA overexpress urokinase-type plasminogen activator in many brain sites including the hypothalamus and have increased life span (by 20%).

Other phenotypes: These mice consume less food (by 20%) , have reduced body weight (by 20%) and length (by 6%), and have increased life span (by 20%) [pubmed]. Alpha MUPA mice have reduced levels of blood sugar and smaller litter size and birth frequency compared to their parental wild type control. These mice consume less food (by 20%) , have reduced body weight (by 20%) and length (by 6%), and have increased life span (by 20%) [pubmed]. Their body temperature is reduced [pubmed].
