Deletion of Cu-Zn superoxide dismutase decreases replicative life-span by approximately 40%.

Other phenotypes: The magnitude of the decrease in life-span does not appear to be dependent on oxygen concentration in the atmosphere [pubmed]. Deletion of SOD1 shortens chronological life-span as well as replicative life span [pubmed]. Overexpression of SOD1 has no effect on replicative life-span [pubmed].
